Islamic Calendar 2023

The islamic calendar is also called the Muslim lunar calendar based on the moon. The lunar year, also called the Hegirian year, signifies the period of time that the moon needs to orbit the Earth for twelve complete periods. Each cycle expresses a month, which means that the lunar year is twelve months, the length of a month varies from twenty-nine to thirty days.

The lunar year is the basis of several caldenriers such as the Indian, Hebrew, Chinese and Muslim calendars. These calendars all depend entirely on the shape of the moon in the sky to know the current date, and the shape of the moon changes depending on its location between the sun and the earth.
